Pro Tips

Japanese Tea Garden - Whether you're seeking a moment of contemplation, a leisurely stroll amidst natural beauty, or an opportunity to immerse yourself in Japanese culture, the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Tony's Pizza Napoletena– We rolled into Tony's after spending the day on bicycles and in a drizzle. Our first evening we ordered a margarita pizza, which was wonderful. The night before our flight, we loved Tony so much we went back and ordered a large pizza. We then drove our car to a local IGA and gluttony set-in as we pounded almost the entire large pizza.  No shame!

Alcatraz Island– Alcatraz at night may very well be my all-time favorite excursion. Take the self-guided tour. Put on the headphones and lose yourself in the prison. Listen to the haunting stories from actual prisoners of Alcatraz. Slow down and take your time. Be sure to walk the grounds as well.  Great photo opps of San Francisco at night.

Muir Woods National Monument - Muir Woods is an absolute marvel of natural beauty. This truly is a sanctuary. It is a chapel, a cathedral, a place of worship. Take your time walking the trails. Find a quiet place, lay on your back, and just let the sheer size of the redwoods awe you. The majesty of these ancient giants, some reaching heights of over 250 feet, is awe-inspiring.  A must!

Fisherman’s Wharf has become a tourist trap. It is mostly gift stores but worth a quick walk-through. Spend some time watching the seals as they rest on the floating docks.
